Sew for pleasure
Children and adults enjoy and develop skills well in groups and its a great way to meet new friends.
We invite all to join us on our free charity workshop events where we make items for those in need. You may not be able to attend regular workshops, but these workshops see many people who would love to learn and take advantage of the time offered. In exchange we only ask for a small donation in the form of fabric to sew for the specific workshop (and we do find homemade cakes seem to spur the group along and keep spirits high). We have so far created dresses and shorts for children in need, sturdy bags for the homeless and feminine hygiene pads for ladies in Stockport. Our next project will be coming soon.
We take unwanted sewing machines, that have been left, unwanted and unused (even broken) and repair them to as good as new. We take them to send to Africa to help those fighting povert, giving hope to people, teaching them and helping them to set up small businesses for themselves and their communities. Those we cannot send are fixed up sold locally at affordable prices, and those machines that are beyond repair, will supply us with necessary parts to complete those we can. In South Manchester, we recycled over 150 donated machine throughout 2016/7. Thank you to all those who donate.
